XR for Change - A curator's perspective

The XR for Change Summit is less than two weeks away and we could not be more excited about it. While curating speakers for the Summit my goal was to explore how immersive technologies are being used to address real-world challenges, create empathy and drive social change. The three main areas we have focused on for this year's Summit are health, education and social impact.

More than 30 speakers and panelists from all over the world will be part of the XR for Change Summit on June 30th. From leading organizations such as United Nations, University of Washington, Stanford University, Oculus, Microsoft, IBM, Sundance Institute, New York Times, and Time Inc to startups you have probably never heard of. I wanted to give a platform to those who are leveraging this technology in meaningful and innovative ways. The speakers are a mix of experts, educators and creators who are passionate about the work they do and excited to share their experiences.

XR4C's Immersive Arcade

As part of the XR for Change Summit G4C is hosting an Immersive Arcade, which features more than fifteen XR impactful experiences that will blow your mind away. These immersive experiences are a great opportunity to test and critically think about concepts that XR leaders will be sharing during the Summit. Here are a few experiences that exemplify how XR tech is creating new forms of social impact and engagement:

- Lost City of Mer, a cross-platform interactive experience combining elements of sci-fi and mystery to inspire users to reduce their carbon footprint and help restore a lost civilization.

- Greenland Melting, a VR experience created with photogrammetry, videogrammetry, CGI and 360 video that allows viewers to discover NASA's findings on Greenland's glaciers.

- HoloTour is a VR piece that allows the user to travel through space and time to revisit some of the world's wonders. All of the heritage sights have been designed in 360 degree video, spatial sound, and holographic scenery that will make anyone believe they are really there.

- My Africa immerses viewers in an elephant sanctuary in Kenya, where a local community is reknitting the bonds that have long enabled people and wildlife to coexist.
