Games for Change announced G4C Learn, an expanded focus of learning programs. Building on the success of the flagship G4C Student Challenge program and professional development programs for teachers and museum educators, G4C Learn will create even more opportunities for students and educators to use games and game design to reimagine learning.
G4C revealed more info about The Serious Games Developer Program, which was created to teach Ukrainian game developers how to design for social impact. After an in-depth workshop and game jam, the Grand Story team won $5000 to continue developing their game. G4C, the US Embassy in Ukraine, and the Serious Games Developer Program winners discussed the G4C DEEP Impact framework and how global programs can further develop and foster collaboration.
Earlier today at #G4C2021, ESA unveiled its annual '2021 Essential Facts', including new findings on the past year of gaming. Check out the report and explore how even more people are using video games and immersive media to connect with their family, friends, and others.

Game-Changing Moments: A Fireside Chat with the Founders of HiDef (12:00 pm - 12:30 pm) Anthony Castoro, Rick Fox, and Geneva Heyward Meet the founders of HiDef, a studio that was launched by people of color with a mission to innovate and infest pop culture with a positive impact on diverse communities. Hear from co-founders Anthony Castoro and Rick Fox in conversation with a young game designer Geneva Heyward as they unpack HiDef's vision of the metaverse.
Changing the Game for the Neurodiverse (12:30 pm - 12:50 pm) Jenny Wu Not all games are created equal, especially for the 70 million people with learning disabilities. Jenny Wu provides the perspective of the 1 in 5 people with learning and thinking differences and a view into their experiences with games. She shares why it's important to consider them in game design and actions that we can take to build more inclusive games for everyone, including the neurodiverse.
The Kids Are (Mostly) All Right: A Chat Between Developers & Youth (3:30 pm - 4:20 pm) Arana Shapiro, Rachelle Vallon, Afeez Bello, Laura Higgins As most developers know, kids are the first to jump in and play a new game and are often the most vocal about why it is great (or not) and how it can be improved. Yet they are rarely asked their opinion and are very often the last to be heard. In this session, youth are given a seat at the table to talk to developers of some of their favorite games.
Reframing Education Games Through Indigenous Lenses (5:00 pm - 5:45 pm) Miranda Due, Jeanette Bushnell, Eleanore Falck, Kari Noe, and Amber Taylor Meet creators from various Indigenous communities worldwide and learn their experience in developing educational games and immersive experiences. The conversation will highlight how these creators are infusing teachings and methodologies from their communities into their work.
