The ocean includes a wondrous array of habitats and species - from tiny plankton to the largest creature on Earth, the blue whale. And it's all connected.
| | From fishing, oil and gas, shipping, coastal development, pollution and climate change, human activities are having a huge impact on the marine environment. The cumulative effect of these pressures is seriously diminishing nature's ability to cope and bounce back.
For example, over the last 30 years 50% of the world's corals have disappeared and fish species that depend on them have declined by 34%. The chain of events doesn't end there - we're all connected to the ocean - habitats, species, livelihoods and economies are at risk. But there are solutions, if we act now.
