Games for Change Updates: May 2020 🎮

We are excited to announce our next XR for Change Talk and Play event on the impact of volumetric capture in XR! This Talk and Play will be hosted in partnership with TECH TOCK, and participants will have the ability to view the panel in virtual reality through AltspaceVR. If you don't have a VR headset, you can join us via the Windows App to view it in 2D. In the lead up to the 2020 Games for Change Virtual Festival this July, the XR4C Talk and Play series will explore cutting-edge work by creators using immersive technologies for positive social impact. Join us on Thursday, May 25th from 5:00 to 6:30pm EDT! 

Over the past few years, volumetric capture has emerged as one of the most exciting developments in digital content creation. In this panel, we'll explore the groundbreaking capabilities of volumetric capture and discuss how it stands to impact the future of media in the 2020s.

This event will be moderated by Jesse Damiani, the host of the TECH TOCK Series and curator of XR for Change at G4C. Our carefully selected panel of experts include:

  • Christina Heller- CEO, Metastage
  • David Liu- Co-Founder & Chief Creative Officer, Lightframe 
  • Laura Rizzotto- Recording/Performing Artist, Metastage

Our 2020 Student Challenge Competition submission period just ended, and this year we had 980 ENTRIES FROM 1,587 STUDENTS from all across the country. Tune in on June 17th as we announce the winners in a live-streamed ceremony online. Keep an eye out for more details - in the meantime, check out past winners here

Recently, Games for Change partnered with Microsoft to launch the Virtual Industry Pro Summit for Esports. Over 10 days there were a series of panels featuring experts in the Esports field covering a range of topics from starting your own esports team to accessibility to data science.
