On Thursday, June 25th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm EDT we will hold an XR Talk and Play exploring Ethics.

XR is a novel technology, with far-ranging applications like entertainment, healthcare, and education.  When working with emergent technology, it is crucial we acknowledge potential ethical, moral, and psychological concerns. In this panel, we will discuss the implementation risks involved and explore the ethical frameworks and regulations needed to make XR safer and inclusive.

Our panel of experts include:

  • Kent Bye- Producer, Voices of VR podcast
  • Kavya Pearlman- Founder, XR Safety Initiative
  • Galit Ariel- Techtivist | TED Speaker | Author

Our second Talk and Play is in partnership with MIT Press for the book launch of "LOCALLY PLAYED: Real-World Games for Stronger Places and Communities" written by G4C co-founder, Dr. Benjamin Stokes. Join us on Thursday, June 30th from 6:00 to 7:00pm EDT as we discuss the future of urban play, games of resilience, and how games can strengthen cities and neighborhoods.

This new book is the first to show cities how they can be strategic with games in a hybrid world. In the book, Dr. Stokes describes the rise of games that can connect strangers across zip codes, support the "buy local" economy, and build cohesion in the fight for equity. With a mix of high- and low-tech games, cities can tap into the power of play for the good of the group, including healthier neighborhoods and stronger communities.

Featuring author Dr. Benjamin Stokes in conversation with Katie Salen Tekinbaş (Connected Learning Lab at UC Irvine), plus tools to make your own game for community cohesion, history and empowerment!
