Check out some more information on Award recipients and sessions!
The Games for Change Virtual Festival is less than a week away! Today we'll be sharing more information about the G4C Awards Ceremony and some sessions which show how games can unify, connect, and create new learning opportunities especially during this time of social distancing.
The 2020 G4C Awards Ceremony will take place on July 14 at 7:30 PM! We are excited to announce that Sugar Gamers founder,Keisha Howard will be hosting the first ever virtual ceremony! Keisha is a leader in the gaming community and has a compelling and engaging vision that inspires others. She's created a unique community, united by the mission of promoting diversity and inclusiveness in a space that often suffers from the lack of it.
A few weeks back we shared that Microsoft would be acknowledged as our Industry Leadership winner. Today we are thrilled to recognize the recipients of our Vanguard Award and the inaugural G4C Giving Award!
Each year Games for Change honors an individual who stands out as a champion and advocate of social impact and learning games. The Vanguard Award acknowledges the significant contributions this individual has made throughout their career and the impact they have as a mentor for a new generation of game creators. This year we are thrilled to announce that our Vanguard Award recipient is Gordon Bellamy. Gordon is an accomplished game designer, executive, and educator and has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to make the industry a better place for creators.
Gordon is the only person to have served as the executive director of both the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences as well as the International Game Developers Association. Now as the president / CEO of the Gay Gaming Professionals, Gordon brings together the LGBTQ+ gaming community and its allies in an effort to create diverse, inclusive spaces to connect and network in the gaming industry. Gordon has also established partnerships with industry organizations like the Entertainment Software Association to provide scholarships to LGBTQ+ students looking to enter the video game/interactive media industry.
This year, Games for Change will also present its inaugural G4C Giving Award, which recognizes organizations in the games sector that meaningfully support their communities with direct donations of time, money, and other resources. We are excited to present this award to Humble Bundle! For 10 years, Humble Bundle has supported various non-profit organizations and charities through their innovative pay-what-you-like fundraiser bundles of games, software, and ebooks. Having raised over $182 million dollars for over 50 charities, they have redefined how the global gaming community can support the work of nonprofits, publishers, and indie developers through charitable giving.
We are inspired by the work that Humble Bundle has done in the games sector to give back and would like to celebrate the last 10 years of their meaningful support to the community!
Join us on July 14th to honor Humble Bundle, Gordon Bellamy, Microsoft, and the G4C Awards winners at the 2020 Games for Change Awards Ceremony!
