That’s a Wrap on #G4C2020! 🎉

That's a wrap! What an amazing 3 days of the first ever Games for Change Virtual Festival. Throughout #G42020 we had over 200 speakers, 70 hours of content, 75 Marketplace booths and over 6,800 attendees!

During this time of social distancing we are seeing how beneficial games and immersive media are in connecting people, helping with mental health, and fostering resilience.  We are proud to have brought together such an insightful and talented group of participants to share their thoughts and experiences on these prevalent issues.

If you missed any speakers keep an eye out for their talks on our YouTube Channel!

THANK YOU to all of our participants, speakers, and sponsors for making #G4C2020 a truly electrifying global experience!

Today we announced a new game design challenge with Endless Network called "Change The Game".  This is a national call for game developers to submit existing or "beta" level games with potential to be redesigned for middle school STEM learners. Challenge finalists will receive mentorship from a cross-sector team of professionals (including experts in digital learning, STEM curriculum, publishing and more!).  The Challenge will be offering prizes up to $150,000 in funding to redevelop their existing game and take the new EDU product to market. The Challenge launches in August, but you can sign up for more info here!

G4C Senior Director of Programs Tania Hack and G4C Managing Director Arana Shapiro shared a summary of the past 5 years of the Student Challenge Program! Over the past 5 years they have reached 27,000+ students and almost 400 educators across 305 schools. So far there have been 2,931 games submitted over 20 social impact themes. Stay tuned for more information about the 2021 Student Challenge!

Paula Gangopadhyay, Deputy Director of Museum Services for the IMLS spoke about a new partnership with G4C to adapt the Student Challenge for 40 museum education programs in COVID hot spot cities including: NYC, Los Angeles, Detroit and Atlanta.  The game design prompt will be centered around resilience.

#G4C2020 may be over, but you can still stay involved with all of the initiatives we have going on year-round. Be sure to keep an eye out for the Create with Fornite workshops we will be running with Epic Games throughout the fall, the "Change the Game" Challenge launch the beginning of our 2021 Student Challenge program and more!
