You've most likely eaten palm oil or used it to wash yourself or clean your house today. Palm oil is a hidden ingredient found in an incredible range of everyday household products from margarine to lipstick, biscuits to candles, chocolate to laundry detergent. In fact, it's the world's most produced, consumed and traded vegetable oil, accounting for 38% of global vegetable oil consumption in 2014/15.
There's nothing wrong with palm oil. The problem is how it's grown. Too often, palm oil plantations cover what used to be amazing rainforests that are home to wildlife such as tigers, elephants and orangutans.
