With the beginning of Fall upon us, we thought it would be a good time to share what's going on with Games for Change. It's a busy time for us as we continue to build a community of practice around the use of games and XR for good. We are proud to be presenting XR Immersive Arcades, speaking on panels, and participating in many other events throughout New York and the rest of the world. Below we're highlighting just a few of these gatherings. If you find yourself at one of these events, please reach out, we'd love to meet up!
New York Comic Con
On October 3rd,  join Thomas Knowlton, Jennifer Abounader-Ciesla, Leah Potter, and Games for Change Production Manager, Raul Carvajal for their New York Comic Con  panel, Rewiring History: Hacking the Past Through Games. The panel will highlight how games such as Assassin's Creed: Origins, Valiant Hearts, and 1979 Revolution: Black Friday have been used to transport students to Ancient Egypt, excavate the relics of World War I, and illuminate the 1979 Iranian Revolution, respectively.

Playcon
Games for Change Chairman, Asi Burak, will be speaking at Playcon. Malta's first Game Development and Esports Expo will take place on October 3rd-6th and will be showcasing the best that industry stakeholders have to offer under one roof, making it possible to discuss and engage the future of video games and Esports.

Keys to Learn 
Games for Change is proud to partner with Ubisoft to present their first Keys to Learn event in the US on October 8th. Hot off the heels of their multiple wins at the Games for Change Awards this summer, Keys to Learn will be a small gathering to showcase Ubisoft's renewed commitment to foster learning through games. Teachers, students, researchers, and nonprofits will convene for a series of intimate conversations around how video games are entering a new era for education. Ubisoft will also give attendees a chance to play their new offerings, which include Discovery Tour: Ancient Greece, and other unannounced and brand new titles. Please note that this event is invite-only

New York State Arts Standards for Youth Media Symposium
On October 17th Games for Change President Susanna Pollack will be a speaker on the Emerging Fields in Technology panel at the New York State Arts Standards for Youth Media Symposium.  This day-long seminar will bring together PK-12 and youth media organizations to reflect and learn how the NYS Media Arts Standards can provide a useful roadmap for how we teach technology as an artform today.

Upswell 
Games for Change will be at Upswell in Chicago, IL November 13th-15th. A convening for change-makers of all kinds – community organizers, philanthropists, nonprofit leaders, government officials, corporate responsibility professionals, and more. G4C will be hosting an XR for Change Immersive Arcade, a Creator's Lounge, and more. 

XR+
Presented by The DQ Institute, The World Economic Forum and Games for Change, XR+ will convene artists, developers, educators, technologists, and others to explore how XR technologies offer radical new ways to drive digital literacy. The Symposium will also host an XR for Change Immersive Arcade, showcasing how emerging technologies can be used to create experiences for social impact and advance dialogue and collaboration. Games for Change will be curating a selection of XR experiences that tackle various areas of social impact – including health and wellness, civic issues, education, and diversity. Please note that this event is invite-only.

G4C Latin America Festival 
The 7th G4C Latin America Festival will be held from November 28 to December 7 at University of São Paulo. The Festival is part of the São Paulo Play Week, also led by  G4C Latin America. The overall program includes various partnering events including the VI Academic Forum on Ludic Studies, the Playable Cities platform (partnering with Coventry University's Disruptive Media Learning Lab and USPs Research Center for Architecture and Urbanism Technologies), the International Relations Game Jam (with the Institute of International Relations at USP), and the Pitch for Change inaugural selection of both digital and non-digital game projects and start-ups (partnering with G4C Accelerator and the Faculty of Business at USP). There will be a special track on games, special needs and diversity, partnering with the Municipal Secretary for Persons with Special Needs of São Paulo.

TECH 2019 

On December 10th-12th Games for Change President Susanna Pollack will be speaking at TECH 2019 in Visakhapatnam, India. TECH brings together a community of teachers, students, researchers, developers, and policy makers to explore connections between social & emotional learning and digital pedagogies. This year's themes are Transformative Pedagogies for Social & Emotional Learning (SEL), Reimagining Learning Spaces for Planetary Citizenship and Data, and Learning & Education - Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Support the One Gamer Fund October 2nd-6th
One Gamer Fund is an effort to raise money for the great work of Games for Change, Global Game Jam, IGDA Foundation, Child's Play, The AbleGamers Charity, Stack Up and Take This. The One Gamer Fund boosts visibility of our initiatives and supports game developers and game players around the world. All the funds raised enable us to support gaming causes in a meaningful way.

We were very excited to kick off the 5th year of the Student Challenge in NYC last week with an enriching 2-Day professional development. Our 2019-2020 NYC cohort is now 75+ teachers strong! Over the coming weeks, professional development will be taking place in the other 3 Student Challenge cities: Atlanta, Detroit and Los Angeles.

Teachers in Los Angeles and Detroit can still can apply  to bring a game design course to their school. Learn how to engage students with a curriculum that inspires civic engagement and builds 21st Century skills. No prior game design experience necessary.
Games for Change supported by Endless Network, is excited to announce a new Learn to Code Games Fellowship for college and university-level game designers. Through a competitive submission process, three pairs of student teams will be selected to participate in the two-month Fellowship, during which they will design game mechanics that make learning to code fun and accessible to all. Augmented World Expo (AWE)
October 17th-18th in Munich, Germany and November 11th in Tel Aviv, Israel
Hear from industry leaders sharing real-life use cases, solving major technical challenges, bringing AR/VR into every vertical such as industrial, healthcare, gaming and entertainment, architecture and construction, training and education, and working on the cutting edge of AR/VR development.

CSforALL Summit 
October 21-23 2019 in Salt Lake City, Utah
Come learn, share, and be inspired by the progress in the CSforALL movement. Hear from key organizations, local government and educational agencies about ways they are tackling the goal of access to rigorous, inclusive, and sustainable computer science education for all US students. This year's theme is 'Systems Change'.
